STANFORD UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL MEDIA CONFERENCE

November 5, 2022

Cameron Ward

Stanford, California, USA

Postgame Media Conference

Washington State - 52, Stanford - 14

Q. Have you ever been in a win this big before?

CAMERON WARD: Yeah, my last school. But first time this year a win like this. We needed this, we needed to get going. We needed what it takes to win it again. Both sides played good today. We got the job done.

Q. What kind of (indiscernible), getting Nakia back, the offense, (indiscernible)?

CAMERON WARD: Just a big help. Just the plays that he can make in the rushing game, the breakaways that he had today and even being able to help us in pass protection.

Having Nakia back today, the day he had today was well-deserved for him. Happy to have him back.

Q. (Indiscernible) game in three years. Obviously (indiscernible) winning no matter how it goes down obviously is a huge confidence booster. (Indiscernible) how much bigger is it for you guys in close games to (indiscernible) win this big?

CAMERON WARD: Really just both sides came with it today, from the jump to tempo of offense and defense. Like I said, we needed this win just to have the feeling of winning again. But it's all smiles right now, but come tomorrow morning it's back to work.

Q. Coach said he thought you guys were all hungry for this game. Do you agree?

CAMERON WARD: Yes, sir.

Q. Why are you hungry?

CAMERON WARD: Just the games we lost, we sold a lot of them. I feel like we're actually one of the best teams in the country but we didn't finish games like we wanted to. We was able to get a much deserved win today and just back to work tomorrow.

Q. This is the fourth down TD pass (indiscernible) what did you see of that play? (Indiscernible) gives you more confidence?

CAMERON WARD: Just being able to get a free play off. We're going to take a shot no matter what, just a free touchdown really. Them jumping off offsides and us not moving, we were able to take a shot on them.

Q. Washington Nation is extremely proud of the work this whole team has done. What would you say to your fans?

CAMERON WARD: Just keep supporting us. We know we had a rocky midway season, but Cougs, coming back for everything, this is our time to go.

Q. Jacob said, it's the best game the offensive line has played so far this year. Would you agree with that? What did you see from them?

CAMERON WARD: Them being able to establish on the first play on the game establishing the run. We needed that this game. Them also pass protection, just had an unbelievable day of play from the starters to the backups, both teams. So the O line, I told them every day it starts with them, they set the tempo each and every game. They had a great day today.

Q. You looked really comfortable in the pocket. You weren't really pressured that much, were you?

CAMERON WARD: No, sir. Stanford is not a big blitz team. O line, you know, great pass protection all night. Really didn't have to move much in the pocket. Just get to my receivers. So credit to them. They did an unbelievable job today.
