LOS ANGELES FOOTBALL CLUB MEDIA CONFERENCE

October 30, 2022

Maxime Crepeau

Press Conference

LAFC 3, Austin FC 0

Q. Max, talk about the emotions of winning and making it to the MLS Cup?

MAXIME CRÉPEAU: Yeah, that's phenomenal and this is what we play for. We play to win games like today and to reach 90 minutes to lift the trophy. This is what you play for as a child. You grow up. You put yourself into that situation and we have that opportunity next week.

Q. Just talking about the game, obviously a big one coming up, how does it feel for you going through the season?

MAXIME CRÉPEAU: Yeah, the goal to start was to go all the way and now we are here. Yeah, I think I take it week by week, game by game. I can't put myself ahead of the next 90 minutes. I'm really happy that I extended all the way through and I have this much original many coming to a World Cup because the official -- starts November 14, if I'm not mistaken. So to be fair I'm going to go with a big week of preparation and turn the page and focus on the next mission.

Q. Talk about the experience of the game, just the importance of staying ready at all times and finishing the game with a clean sheet?

MAXIME CRÉPEAU: Yeah, it's no secret that throughout the whole year you have to be focused 90 minutes, because we've played dominant football today but over the course of the season I might see one or two dangerous actions and then it's more management, so today was about more management because ten guys in front of me did an amazing job defensively. They were really locked in. I think they were more defensively than offensively.

This is why we were dangerous going forward because we were all really in good spots when we wanted, so it's all about staying sharp mentally, and obviously it's good to get the clean sheet moving to next week.

Q. Obviously today, the team played really well. You were not tested as much as the opponent's goalie. Going into the next match, do you have a preference of who you would like to play, and do you personally do research in terms of their attackers and other preparation?

MAXIME CRÉPEAU: Yeah, I don't mind playing either Philly or New York. It's two teams that have good football and they are going to play in a few minutes or hours, yes, so once we know our opponent, of course we will do video and see what they are good at with the ball and what players have some tendencies off the ball, because it's almost -- to have the ball sometimes, what's their mindset what to do and such. We are going to do our homeworks and prepare for the next one.

Q. You guys are western conference champs, and one win away from listing the MLS Cup. What's the atmosphere like in the locker room?

MAXIME CRÉPEAU: You know, with the goal of this year is the MLS Cup. At the end of the day, we have had success so far. Getting the Shield was amazing down in Portland, and obviously we want to top it off, cherry on the top would be the Cup here at home in front of our supporters. The whole organization was looking towards that moment and the roster was built for that moment.

Everything, everybody is content with the win today, the 3-0, but there's still that bubble in our head that is like, job is not done, not satisfied enough. I think the group has the mentality of going all the way and we'll see who we are playing, but the mentality of the guys are, one more.
