CHICAGO FIRE MEDIA CONFERENCE

May 28, 2022

Miguel Navarro

Chicago, Illinois, USA

Press Conference

Q. How did you guys lose that match?

MIGUEL NAVARRO: I'm not really sure. It was incredible game. Sometimes football is like that; it's unjust. We have to keep working hard and look over everything. It was really incredible. But like I said we have to keep our head up and keep working hard and keep moving forward so that we can get points.

Q. Obviously it's been a really rough couple weeks for the team not getting a win but now you have a three-week break and you get to go away with the national team. How do you use that as a fresh start with the break and try to get things back on track for the second half of the season?

MIGUEL NAVARRO: Yeah, it's not a break so much because I'm going to be training and I'm going to train. But you could say it's kind of like a mini-break, a mini-camp and it will be good so that we can clear our heads so that we can prepare for games better. It was a good game. Unfortunately the three points weren't with us today but being able to go with the national team, like you said, I'm going to be able to gain experience and hopefully I can then bring that experience back with my teammates and we can get those points that we've let slip by.

Q. The team is going through a rough streak with ten games without winning, and imagine this is affecting the team a lot. What do you have to do in order to get out of this rut? What can the team do to end this streak?

MIGUEL NAVARRO: Yes, clearly we are passing through some uncomfortable situations that I'm sure no MLS team wants to go through a streak like this one. But what you do, the way that you get out of it is by working hard and facing forward and today, the team had a different type of attitude for sure. We went out there and we really dominated the game from beginning to end. We had good passes.

But one of the things, also, is having confidence in one ease self and in your teammates, looking up, if you make a bad pass or you make a bad play, continue to go move forward and work hard together.

So like I said before, getting out of this streak is what is going to happen by working hard, and moving forward in the direction that we want to go as a team.

Q. Earlier in the season, you guys were finding ways to grind out wins, grind out results, and then obviously that hasn't been the case recently. What's changed?

MIGUEL NAVARRO: I think we kept the same plan and the same scheme of things. It's something we always want to keep ball, we always want to go forward and we always want to create chances and make plays. Yeah, sometimes you ride it out, games that are won by hitting the long ball or going up for the second ball or going in to the death and all of the duels. But the team has not really changed its game plan and what you need sometimes, the same thing that happened when we were grinding it is attitude. Confidence in your teammates. And just going out there and knowing what you're going for. So we're going to continue to do that and continue to keep working hard.
