STANFORD UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL MEDIA CONFERENCE

November 27, 2021

Ben Yurosek

Stanford, California, USA

Postgame Media Conference

Stanford 14, Notre Dame 45

Q. Ben, could you just talk about your performance tonight, how good it felt to get the 49-yard touchdown, and also did you feel the offense was feeling a little bit better tonight? Just, yeah, talk about that.

BEN YUROSEK: I would say more of a relief. I mean, we knew how many opportunities we had to score, and obviously I felt like we did some things better as an offense, but still have so much room to grow.

Q. Obviously been kind of finishing off a rough stretch for you guys, especially the last month, last four games. As one of the guys coming back, what do you need to see in the off-season, do better in the off-season to make sure this doesn't happen next year?

BEN YUROSEK: Just a lot of work. Make it that simple. This off-season me and the leaders, we got to step up and truly point this team in a direction where we can win. We got to get back to the Stanford tradition. So winning is not okay -- losing is not okay with me, and I know some of the other guys, so we're going to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Q. Just a follow up. You guys were at one point just coming off that win against Oregon. Did you notice anything different in the second half of the season? You were doing well up to that point and kind of fell off after that.

BEN YUROSEK: I don't know if I put it on anything. Obviously we can make excuses, injuries and other things, but I won't make any excuse for us. We got to be better. We fell off. Yeah, can't let that happen again.

Q. Can you break down that one-handed catch?

BEN YUROSEK: I mean, I knew Tanner was going to be looking for me. We been trying to get that connection all day. Yeah, saw it at the last second. Threw my left hand out there, and me and Tanner have had great connections and just trying to build off that.

Q. What's been the message from the coaches to you guys, and how do you feel that's being received going into the off-season, what the motivation is from here?

BEN YUROSEK: Yeah, there has been a lot from the coaching staff, but put it simply, we got to get back to Stanford football. That's going to be this off-season. Going to be working, and, yeah, getting back to our foundation of football.

Q. Going to be a junior next year, one of the upperclassmen. How excited are you to kind of shoulder more of a leadership role and be an upperclassman on this team and help shape the future of this program?

BEN YUROSEK: Yeah, super excited about stepping up and being a leader. You know, I don't think any class determines you as a leader whether, freshman, sophomore, junior, senior. Just got to have guys that step up and have the same goal of winning next year.

That's all I have.
