LOS ANGELES FOOTBALL CLUB MEDIA CONFERENCE

October 16, 2021

Jamal Blackman

Press Conference

LAFC 3, San Jose 1

Q. Can you give us your thoughts on the win today?

JAMAL BLACKMAN: Yeah, I think we done well today. I think we played well as a team. Obviously everyone's happy to get the win. I think we were good going forward. Defensively it could have been better but I think all together, we done really well.

Q. Just looking forward, can you give us your thoughts on what's going to need to happen as you take the team on the road for two games?

JAMAL BLACKMAN: I think going forward, we know every game is really important. We're looking forward to try and play as well as we can, get the three points in every game. I think we need it take every game as a final. I think given the performance of today, I think we can build on that and going forward, we can be able to make the playoffs.

Q. Can you tell us how it was, especially towards the end of the game where you had key saves to keep the team ahead when San Jose was pushing for the equalizer?

JAMAL BLACKMAN: Yeah, I think overall it was a good team performance. I think I done well, obviously frustrated with the goal. I think we all were.

I think going forward, we've been playing well and I think the more we play, the better we feel, and the more fluent we get, and I think going into the rest of the games, that's a good way to be.

Q. How has it been for you getting the feel and the communication with your teammates, and the fact that you had to start with the team new towards the end of the season?

JAMAL BLACKMAN: I think it's helped me. The team's been really welcoming, like going in training. I've gotten used to the players and used to where they play, and obviously coming in, the manager shows us the way he wants us to play in and the way we build up as a team, and I think that it's good where we're all sighted on each other a little bit more and we know each other. Obviously we've had a few injuries, but we are still all together as a team.

Q. What have you seen from the team, and what do you like the most in terms of the style of play and the way the team pushes? And how important was this result in particular getting that moment of going -- thinking to the next games that are going to be away and the importance of getting those results to get into the playoffs?

JAMAL BLACKMAN: I think I like the way we played. We play forward and we try to play attacking football. We play together as a team. We try and play out. Even when we don't have the ball, we press really fast and we press together as a team.

So I think that's really important going forward to win the ball high and try to score as many goals as possible. I think going forward into the rest of the games, they are going to be all energetic-high tempo play and that's the best way we play and I think that's the way football should be played. It's always good going into that and thinking that with these games away, we can still the six points we need with this little trip away, and I think that's the main aim.
