UNIVERSITY OF TULSA FOOTBALL MEDIA CONFERENCE

October 10, 2021

Shamari Brooks

Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA

Press Conference

Tulsa 35, Memphis 29

Q. How does it feel to have successfully bounced back from the Houston thing? That wasn't like you guys had played at all the last couple years. To have a good week of practice, come out with a victory tonight, how good does it feel to put that in the past?

SHAMARI BROOKS: Feels good. I mean, it just shows the age of our team. We're mature guys. We're not worried about the last week. Moving past to the next week. That just shows a lot of maturity on our side and that we don't let one loss define anything at all.

Q. Your offensive line played really well tonight. What did you see from those guys?

SHAMARI BROOKS: They were moving guys from the line of scrimmage, moving guys two or three yards behind. I mean, Big Tyler, Gerard, CP, those guys was handling things and bounced back big from last week's loss against Houston. I was proud of those guys.

Q. Did you feel like offensively you guys found a rhythm there late third quarter and into the fourth, something that would be good to build on?

SHAMARI BROOKS: Yeah, I did. Coach dialed up some pretty good plays, had a couple good runs, good passes. I feel like we were kind of getting balanced again. Yeah, I feel like things were going third quarter.

Q. Go against them every day in practice. Your defense had its back against the wall at the end and I think there were the 99 snaps for Memphis on the night, so they had to be tired; they were missing some guys. To come up with a stop like they did, your thought on the way they had to dig down deep.

SHAMARI BROOKS: That was big. I mean, I know our DBs they were getting Targeted a lot this whole year, so just to see those guys come up with the game-stealing play, I feel like that's going to be big for these guys giving them confidence and just good for our secondary and defense as a whole.

Q. What did you think of Anthony's touchdown run?

SHAMARI BROOKS: Man, that was crazy. That was like a Beast Mode type run. He broke four to five tackles. I mean, reminded me of that run with Seahawks, Marshawn Lynch. Big, big run.
