GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS MEDIA CONFERENCE

September 27, 2021

Moses Moody

San Francisco, California, USA

Media Conference

Q. Moses people are saying you're looking for comfortable in your surroundings?

MOSES MOODY: That's definitely what it is. I'm in a new environment, so going into that new environment, things might be a little bit different. But the more time I've been here and been around the guys, I would say I've been able to get more comfortable.

Q. And what's the message that the development staff and all the guys, what's the premiere message they have been giving you?

MOSES MOODY: To this point, we have been doing work outs so it's been development stuff and getting a feel for the game. The older guys are going to come in now that training camp is starting and get adjusted to the way we're going to be playing, so that's when most of that learning is going to come.

Q. Have you been in many of the scrimmages that have been going on the last few weeks?

MOSES MOODY: Yeah, I've been in the gym playing with all the guys coming in and out.

Q. What's that been like playing with more veteran NBA players?

MOSES MOODY: It's been a lot of fun. Like I said, that's a new environment, playing with these guys. A lot of them know the system and know how they like to play and so it's cool for me being able to watch and then get on the floor and actually be in those different scenarios and situations, and that's the way that's been helping me develop.

Q. Have you been around Iguodala much?

MOSES MOODY: I've been around him in the locker room and on the court and he's jumped in.

Q. What's that been like early on in this relationship?

MOSES MOODY: It's good. He's a guy that's been through it all in the NBA, so especially a guy if a guy of his stature is in the perfect position to teach me as a young guy whatever I need, whatever I need to know.

Q. You and yourself, Kuminga, Wiseman, a younger guy, Jordan Poole maybe a younger guy, do you feel like there's a young unit or camaraderie among this group?

MOSES MOODY: Yeah, I do feel like the young guys, obviously with me coming new to the situation, me personally, I latched on to the older young guys a little bit during this part because you know the vets and all that, it's their off-season. But those guys have really been teaching us and really taking the wheel up to this point.

Now that the other guys will be coming in, we'll develop those relationships as well.

Q. Who are the older young guys Wiseman and pool?

MOSES MOODY: Yeah, all those guys, Wiseman, JP, Juan, D-Lee, Mike, all those guys have been here.

Q. Kerr brought up a comparison, Trevor Ariza, do you like that comparison? Did you know his game very well? What do you take out of that comparison?

MOSES MOODY: Yeah, he's a guy that's another guy that sustained in the league for a long time and he's a very solid player. He doesn't have many points or anything that he doesn't really do well, so you can put him in in a lot of different situations, and I feel like in that scenario, we are a lot alike. I feel like just adaptable and able to make things work.

Q. It's been a whirlwind since the draft, Summer League, is today getting your picture taken, putting your uniform on, is it starting to hit you that you're in the NBA?

MOSES MOODY: Yeah, all this has been an eye-opening experience. Up until this point the draft was a big thing for me but since then I've about my head down working, trying to prepare for the season. This is letting me know things are around the corner and it's about to start getting real.

Q. We chatted in the summer after one of your games out in Sacramento and you said you just want to get better every single day, but do you have any specific goals that you keep in mind that you want to achieve during your rookie year, maybe you haven't even said them publically or you might keep them in the back of your head; is there anything specific that you want to accomplish this year?

MOSES MOODY: I mean, honestly, I really don't know what to expect. I'm an open book going in. You know I'm going to learn and see where the season is going. There's many ways the season can go and I'm along for the ride.

Q. Everything I've heard is your two-way game to the way the Warriors want to play basketball. Have you thought about that and the defensive side of things, the faster way to getting some meaningful minutes?

MOSES MOODY: Definitely I feel like in all stages of the game up to this point, defense is what gets you on the floor and then once you're offense gets going, that's what kind of keeps you there.

So that's definitely something I want to pay a lot of attention on, especially in pre-draft because the NBA is a completely different level than college and I understand that, and I'm a rookie so I have a lot that I need to learn. That's definitely an area I'm definitely going to focus on.

Q. Last time we talked to you, you had not really done any exploring and you didn't really try a lot of the food here. Has anything changed in in the last couple weeks?

MOSES MOODY: Yeah, I've gotten a chance to move around a little bit. Been to a couple different spots and kind of got acquainted to the area a little bit more.

Q. Golden Gate Bridge action?

MOSES MOODY: Yeah, made it to the Golden Gate Bridge. Seen the Bay Bridge. We went to the court, Pursuit of Happiness, where they had that famous season where he was telling his son, don't give up on his dreams. We went there and ran around on the court a little bit with the kids.

Q. What's the food you've eaten that they didn't necessarily have in Arkansas?

MOSES MOODY: It's just, you know, here, we're closer to the water so the seafood is a lot different, than Arkansas, at least. It's a lot of things that I've had before but it's just a different taste to it because you're on a different part of the country.

Q. Who do you model your game after?

MOSES MOODY: When I was young, I watched a lot of Joe Johnson. He's from the city. He's from Little Rock. He came back every year and played in Dunbar League, y'all probably don't know what that is, it's a league back home. He came back every summer and put on tournaments around the city. He was kind of the blueprint, and that was somebody I always looked up to and said when I make it, I want to be like him.

Q. Are you going to be giving back like that throughout your year?

MOSES MOODY: Oh, yeah, for sure.

Q. How much contact have you had with Iguodala so far? He's a veteran guy and one of those guys that obviously knows a lot about the game.

MOSES MOODY: Yeah, I've been around him in workouts, in the locker room. Even in the scrimmages and all that we've done, all the work we've done to this point. So yeah, we're starting to build a relationship.

Q. Because he's a guy who goes beyond basketball sometimes. Is it a lot about basketball or general stuff?

MOSES MOODY: Yeah, in the locker room, it's pretty general. He's got all type of different things that he's into that he's willing to talk about and really kind of teach.
