CHICAGO FIRE MEDIA CONFERENCE

July 24, 2021

Miguel Navarro

Chicago, Illinois, USA

Press Conference

Toronto FC 2, Chicago Fire 1

Q. Miguel, you guys did a lot of good inks this tonight, created a lot of chances, a ton of shots, and yet you walk away 2-1 losers. How does that feel?

MIGUEL NAVARRO: We did create a lot of opportunities. We created a lot of chances. I think there were more than 30 if I'm not wrong. But this is the feeling that you walk away with knowing that there are some things that you're doing right and that there are things that we're working on, that we're generating chances and we're working hard and we know that it's these types of games where we shouldn't be dropping points at home and we shouldn't be losing at home and it gives us the feeling that we just need to be working hard and keep working and trusting in the players and the staff.

Q. You played a great game but what more could the team have done tonight?

MIGUEL NAVARRO: We are just missing goals. We just lacked goals. From the very beginning we went out and were playing our game and working hard. Yeah, they had their chances here and there but I think from the very beginning, we were marking our own pace and playing our own game and we're just going to keep working hard and keep having confidence in our team.

Q. Sometimes when the team was attacking, you would hold on to the ball to the point where you would lose a surprise on the attack and get off-sides because of holding on to it and there was a lot of play in the air and it wasn't until later in the game where you started playing on the ground more, what took you so long to make those adjustments or why did you make those adjustments?

MIGUEL NAVARRO: Yeah, I think there were moments where we were creating a lot of chances with the crossing balls in from the side, so we were continuing to work on that and try that because we were creating chances and it was working for us in the moment.

But yeah, those are the small details that you have to fix during the game while you're playing and I think that now we just have to keep working on it, keep trusting ourselves and keep working hard.
