LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS MEDIA CONFERENCE

June 18, 2021

Pat Beverley

Los Angeles, California, USA

Postgame Press Conference

Los Angeles Clippers 131, Utah Jazz 119

Q. What was the conversations at halftime?

PAT BEVERLEY: We got to get stops, got to guard the ball and once we get stops, we're a dangerous team because we don't have to come down and play against their set defense. We go out and run, run, run. I think the threes and the defensive intensity in the second half led to all the open shots.

Q. As a guy who has been around the franchise as long as anybody --

PAT BEVERLEY: Special. Special. Special.

Q. I was going to say, to know how much talk about what this team has not accomplished what was it like to be on the court in this building tonight?

PAT BEVERLEY: Special. Celebrating just to get in the playoffs, seeing a lot of people come and go, a lot of friends, and to be with an organization like this, to finish a game like this, to make history, is special, man. Because I, you know, blood, sweat and tears into this s---, injuries, friend getting traded, ups and downs of basketball, to be the last man standing and kind of write history is special, man, very special.

Q. You were here if I remember right for Game 6 in a Rockets uniform when a crazy second half comeback kind of swung things. What was it like watching a crazy second half swing things again in this building a totally different way?

PAT BEVERLEY: I mean, it's different because I'm a player. So you know, my mindset is always locked in. But just to be part of it. You know, obviously to see the growth of T-Mann, big plays from Reggie, I think PG played the whole second half. Just, you know, the Next Man Up mentality, team effort, not one guy did it. Passed the s--- out the ball; defended the s--- out the ball today; Nico was big, big the whole playoffs; Rondo came in, Luke was big. Just ultimate team effort and when you get wins like that as a team, it's very special. You appreciate it.

Q. There was a at the moment towards the end of the game hearing the fans getting so excited because they realize they are going to the Conference Finals for the first time ever, and I know that's not the goal but what did that moment mean for you when you saw all the fans get the monkey off their back and feel good about this win?

PAT BEVERLEY: They deserve it. The city deserves it. You know, anyone, for as long as I've been here, been working our ass off trying to change the culture of this team. Try to, you know, make us one of those grit teams, those grinding teams. You know, for that to be on full display tonight is very special. Like anything in life, the cream always rise to the top. You get out what you put in, and as a team, as a unit, coaching staff, players, office, we put work into this for years, and you are fortunate that it's paying off.
