LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS MEDIA CONFERENCE

June 6, 2021

Marcus Morris

Los Angeles, California, USA

Postgame Press Conference

Los Angeles Clippers 126, Dallas Mavericks 111

Q. Wanted to see what you thought about -- show some brotherly love for your brother to show up a couple days after the season ended, talk about him being here and also the advice he gave you during the game?

MARCUS MORRIS, SR.: That's just normal for us. Win, lose or draw, either team, family's first. He's going to always come out and support me as I do for him.

You know, he's watching it from a basketball mind and showing me stuff, telling me to slow down. Just little things that he see during the game, and you know, obviously it helps. He's always coaching me. We've been doing that since we were kids, so I wouldn't expect anything less.

Q. Do you have your own language?

MARCUS MORRIS, SR.: For sure. For sure. He can talk to me with his mask on and I know what he talking about. So it's just, you know, we've had that forever.

Q. I think you had ten combined threes in Games 1 through 6 and 7 tonight which ties NBA history foremost in a Game 7 with Steph Curry. What was going through your mind coming into the game?

MARCUS MORRIS, SR.: Honestly I never went back and was like, man, I'm missing or got down on myself. I knew there would be a turning point and I knew if I got something going for my team, it would break the game going. But, man, I told you this awhile back and I said this to one of my coaches, I was going to be a top-five shooter in this league. The work I've put in has come full circle for me. I continue to work, and I like to say, it's better late than never.

Q. Talk about Kawhi's game, outside of Game 5, he's been fantastic through the entire series.

MARCUS MORRIS, SR.: It's been special, him and PG, they have been carrying the team and talking and been extra vocal. You can see the level of intensity and focus these guys have, and we're just trying to ride it when they are both have been playing well and they are both special, and they took us to the second round.

Q. You guys actually made the most threes in Game 7 history today with 20. I wanted to know, how proud are you of guys like Luke and Terance, for people who were not really in the rotation regularly and suddenly they came up huge today?

MARCUS MORRIS, SR.: Made me proud. They been doing it all season. It's a testament to the work they put in, they stayed ready and stayed confident and it was great to see the guys grow, man. I'm very proud of them and very happy for them, and you know, just shows you, just be ready and that's what they did.

Q. You mentioned the work you but in coming into the season. What did that look like and how was that different from before? In terms of work ethic, Reggie mentioned this, Kawhi has a pretty extreme work ethic. Does that help motivate the guys?

MARCUS MORRIS, SR.: Definitely going into last year, was trying to figure out where I could help the team most, and by me being a great floor spacer for two guys that get in the paint and score all different type of ways, they are going to draw double-teams. It's been happening all year and I've just been stepping in and making my shots, watching film day-in and day-out to figure out where I need to be on the court. It's just been going down.

PG and Kawhi, man, they work extremely hard. Max skills; you just don't get the max skills if you don't work as hard as they do, and it's a testament to their work ethic and stepping up in the moment. We'll continue to grind. We're just getting started. We'll go to Utah and we'll have another hard-fought series and hopefully we come out on top.

Q. Just wondering, Ty was talking about you had a walk-through before the game and he said, "I could tell everyone looked like they were locked in." Kawhi always looks like that. Does he ever change the way he looks to you? Does he get too high or too low versus game-to-game or is he the same?

MARCUS MORRIS, SR.: On the court, no. Off the court, he's cool, he's funny. We enjoy being around each other. That's just him, and you know, it locked us all in when your best player is just, you know, extremely locked into the game and helping everybody and being extra vocal, and we've got PG doing the same. We just following their lead, and they are going lead us to where we can go to.
