LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS MEDIA CONFERENCE

June 2, 2021

Kawhi Leonard

Los Angeles, California, USA

Postgame Press Conference

Dallas Mavericks 105, Los Angeles Clippers 100

Q. What happened on the last shot to attempt to tie the game? Looked like you lost your balance. What happened there?

KAWHI LEONARD: Turned, felt him right behind me, tried to pump-fade and just was off-balance. Pretty much was laying back, ended up shooting it. Got to do a better job.

Q. It looked like the game got a way from you guys in the third quarter run they had, 22-3, 24-3, something like that.

KAWHI LEONARD: Yeah.

Q. What caused that to snowball for them?

KAWHI LEONARD: Turnovers. Missed shots. They did a good job of making us turnover the ball, collapsing and just missed shots. We couldn't get nothing to go in.

Q. You have some of the most playoff experience on the whole team. Is there a particular series from your past that you remember that would be good to draw upon this experience right now?

KAWHI LEONARD: No. We just got to take it one game at a time right now. Try to win Game 6, and that's the mindset. See what we can do better from this game and just come out be ready to fight.

Q. Have you ever been in a series before where you had to win the last two to advance and you did?

KAWHI LEONARD: I'm not sure. I've got to look back and think about it. Every year presents a different challenge, and this is what's in front of us right now, so take it one game at a time.

Q. Ty said that as far as you guys, he said we're going to be fine based on what he saw in the locker room. What were you guys like in the locker room after this game? What did you guys say to each other?

KAWHI LEONARD: I mean, just from the offense, we're definitely disappointed in the loss. But he we have confidence in ourselves, and you know, to go out and get another win. So like I said, just focus on the next one and going to see what we can do better.

Q. Seemed like the last few games, what was working, you came to the paint consistently; and they started Boban tonight, just wanted to know if from your perspective if things were -- as far as the offense going inside as often as y'all did to start games with another -- with Boban starting in the middle to begin the game?

KAWHI LEONARD: I think we got to the paint. We made the right plays. Some shots didn't fall. They started in the zone. And then they pretty much came down aggressive on the double team once we got downhill. So like I said, we got to look ask see what we could do better and how we can improve.

Q. Over the course of the series what have you learned about this team defensively and what are some of the minor things you feel like you need to do defensively to go ahead and get a W in Game 6?

KAWHI LEONARD: Just continue to rebound the ball. You know, show a crowd, make sure no one's getting open looks. Make sure we're communicating. Getting back in transition. Just the same thing you need to do every night if you want to get a win in the NBA.
